I bought a set of these in 1973 and they have functioned flawlessly for 40 years straight. I played this banjo professionally for 30 years before acquiring a second banjo, then I played both on stage. I need to get a second set for my second banjo; this is the only Scruggs style banjo tuner I will use. In my opinion, there is no way to over state the quality of manufacture or performance of this tuner!! There is no better warranty. Bottom line: you can’t buy a better Scruggs style tuner. Period!

Very nice tuners! You can’t ask for better quality and craftsmanship!

Check the thickness of your peghead/headstock. If it’s 5/8″ thick, like on my Deering Goodtime banjo, not enough threads (on the tuner) will protrude through to the front of the peghead to thread the nut on (after the washer is placed on).
Most banjos however, have a 1/2″ inch thick peghead, so this will not be a problem.

I had to get some thickness (3/32″) planed/sanded off the back of my peghead so the tuners would fit.
Returning them wasn’t even an option in my book. They are truly an engineering marvel.
